TAM, Brazil's largest airline, reported a fourth-quarter net profit of US$90.5 million, up 7.9 percent from a year earlier, as revenue increased in the period, reported The Wall Street Journal.
TAM also said it would acquire a total of 34 aircraft for about $3.2 billion to meet growing market demand.
The airline said that it had ordered 32 A320-family aircraft from Airbus, and two 777-300ER aircraft from Boeing Co to renew and expand its fleet and "strengthen our operations in both the domestic and international markets".
Boeing valued its portion of the order at about $568 million.
