CMA CGM is contracting the rotation and number of vessels operating on a service linking the East Coast of North America with the Caribbean and northern South America, according to research from ComPair Data.
The French line's Black Pearl service has recently dropped a call at Philadelphia and will in early August add a call in Savannah, according to its schedules. The service has undergone a host of changes in the last eight months. In November, the line added calls on the West Coast of South America before dropping those calls in early June.
That returned the service to its roots, connecting the East Coast of North America with Kingston, Manzanillo (Panama), and Cartagena.
Along with the deletion of the Philadelphia call and the pending addition of Savannah, two vessels have been dropped from the service, taking it to three vessels with an average capacity of 1,106 TEUs.
The Black Pearl rotation is Miami, New York-New Jersey, Halifax, Kingston, Cartagena, Manzanillo and Miami.
