Strong demand for space on the Asia to West Africa route has prompted Saudi Airlines Cargo to increase its capacity from weekly weekly flights to daily B747 freighter flights to the Nigerian city of Lagos.
Lagos flights operate from the Riyadh hub, which is served by the carrier’s 25 weekly freighter flights coming in from Asia and Europe.
“Immediately after we received the additional traffic rights for Lagos we increased our frequency to the fastest growing destination in our network,” said Shihab Al-Amoudi, head of global communications and advertising.
“The expansion to Lagos is an important milestone in increasing our presence in Africa. Our African freighter network is now covering Johannesburg, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Khartoum, Ndjamena, and Lagos. We are planning more destinations in Africa as we grow our network.”
Saudi Airlines Cargo operates 12 freighters and utilises the belly-capacity on 125 passenger aircrafts for Saudi Arabian Airlines spanning a rapidly expanding global network of 225 destinations.
