Japanese ocean carrier MOL will seek a new round of rate increases on cargo moving from the Far East to the Indian Subcontinent, as part of a rate restoration program.
MOL's rate restoration, to be implemented in two stages, will boost rates on shipments from the Far East (excluding Japan) by $100 per 20-foot container as of Sept. 15, followed by a $250 per-TEU hike on shipments from Japan as of Oct. 1.
The Subcontinent region includes ports in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. MOL’s move follows similar GRI announcements by APL and Hapag-Lloyd.
