Mediterranean Shipping Co. will begin weekly service at Alabama’s Mobile Container Terminal, according to the Mobile Press-Register.
Brian Harold, director of the Mobile Container Terminal said the service calling every month is the port’s fifth weekly shipping call. CMA CGM and Zim Integrated Shipping Services each operate weekly services to port, while Maersk Line runs two weekly services.
The Mobile Container Terminal is owned by APM Terminals, a division of A.P. Moller-Maersk, parent of Maersk Line. Harold said the terminal handled 130,000 twenty-foot equivalent container units in 2010, and container volume this year traffic has increased about 25 percent.
