Maersk Line said it is raising rates from Asia to a host of destination regions from Dec. 15.
From the Far East to Mexico, Central America and the west coast of South America, rates will rise by $600 per 20-foot container and $1,200 per 40-foot or 45-foot high-cube container.
To the Caribbean (except for Cuba), the planned rate increases are $560 per 20-foot container and $800 per 40-foot or 45-foot high-cube container. To Cuba, the increases are $410 per 20-foot container and $586 per 40-foot or 45-foot high-cube container.
From the Far East to southern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands, the increases are $150 per 20-foot container and $1,200 per 40-foot or 40-foot high-cube container.
Meanwhile, Maersk said it also plans to assess a peak season surcharge from the Far East to Europe from Dec. 26. The surcharge is $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container.
