Maersk Line said it is raising rates from the Far East to West Africa from Dec. 15, following a decision by members of the Asia-West Africa Trade Agreement.
The increase, $200 per TEU, is applicable to destinations in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde Island, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo and Western Sahara.
Other Asia-West Africa Trade Agreement members are CMA CGM, China Shipping, Delmas, GoldStar, MOL, Mediterranean Shipping Co, NileDutch, PIL, and Safmarine.
