Maersk Line imposed a general rate increase on trades from India to Latin America and the Caribbean, starting March 1.
The planned increase on dry and reefer cargo will be $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot high cube container.
The announcement follows a $560 per-TEU and an $800 per-FEU GRI the world’s largest liner operator applied Jan. 1 on the Far East-Latin America-Caribbean trade lanes. Other container carriers, including Hamburg Sud and CSAV, also raised rates on services from the Indian subcontinent to Latin America and the Caribbean.
