Ho Chi Minh, 28th May 2014 – Maersk Line, together with its sister company, Safmarine Container Line, celebrated yet another milestone in their presence in Vietnam, opening its new head office in Ho Chi Minh City. The “Maersk Vietnam Limited Grand Opening Ceremony” was held with approximately 70 guests, including global freight forwarders, reefer exporters and key clients.
Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, General Director of Maersk Line Vietnam and Cambodia says, “Looking back, we have come a long way from merely being a representative office of Maersk Tokyo in 1991 to being the first container shipping line to be granted a license to operate as a 100% foreign owned company in the country. Today, we are the leading shipping line in Vietnam and Cambodia calling all strategic ports, including a direct service from South Vietnam to US West Coast.”
In more than 20 years of operating in Vietnam, Maersk Line has significantly increased its business along with the growth of the country’s economy. Today, Maersk Line has 160 employees in 8 areas across Vietnam and Cambodia – Ho Chi Minh city, Hanoi, Haiphong, Da Nang, Qui Nhon, Can Tho, Phnom Penh, and Sihanoukville.
