Maersk Line will apply a peak-season surcharge on shipments from India to the U.S. and Canada, starting June 15.
The planned surcharges will be $360 per 20-foot, $450 per 40-foot, $500 per 40-foot high cube and $560 per 45-foot high cube container.
The move follows a similar announcement by Singapore-based container carrier APL on the same trade routes. Effective June 10, APL will impose surcharges of $480 per 20-foot, $600 per 40-foot, $675 per 40-foot high cube and $760 per 45-foot high cube container.
