As previously indicated, the liner shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Co. is beginnning a new U.S. East Coast-to-Central America service from Jacksonville, Fla., and Savannah, Ga., via its offshore hub in Freeport (Bahamas), beginning with the July 17 sailing of Fabian Schulte from Jacksonville.
The service will have a roundtrip voyage time of 14 days, employing two vessels averaging 2,038 TEUs each. The port rotation will be Jacksonville, Savannah, Freeport, Santo Tomas de Castilla, Puerto Cortes, Freeport and Jacksonville.
This will be MSC’s only service with a direct call to Jacksonville, connecting Jacksonville via Freeport with transshipment services to Panama and the west coast of South America, the Mexican Gulf, Montreal, Jeddah, Colombo, Asia and South Africa.
