CMA CGM has launched a new direct Asia-Red Sea service called REX 2.
This new service replaces REX 1 that was operated on a vessel sharing agreement with APL and was terminated at the end of June.
The REX 2 service is allowing CMA CGM to remain active on this major trade for the company with a dedicated loop from Far East to Red sea market.
From July 22, the Asia-Red Sea network will be covered by the Rex 2 loop, which will operate under a vessel sharing agreement between CMA CGM, Hanjin, CSCL and Yang Ming.
CMA CGM will deploy one vessel of 3,900 TEUs on the route which will cover the ports of Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Skekou, Singapore, Jeddah, Sokhna and Aqaba.
Stéphane Courquin, vice-president CMA CGM Asia MED & NAF, said: “It was essential for CMA CGM to offer again Egypt and Jordan calls with a direct and improved service from Asia.’’
