US Lines filed a New Zealand Strike Surcharge at $110 per 20-foot-equivalent unit, effective for cargo received on or after Nov. 1, due to a labor dispute between the Maritime Union of New Zealand and Ports of Auckland, a cargo-handling and logistics service operating at two New Zealand ports.
The container carrier said the surcharge will not be implemented if no disruptions occur.
The union is planning a series of public gatherings to highlight the ongoing negotiations, according to MUNZ President Garry Parsloe.
