CMA CGM, Maersk Line, Hamburg Süd, CSAV, China Shipping Container Lines and Hanjin will restructure their services between the Far East and South America’s east coast by launching three joint services in July. CCNI and Hapag-Lloyd will also join the services.
The three new services will replace the following services:
- ASAS 2, NGX 2, SEAS 2 and ASAX 2, currently operated by Maersk Line, Hamburg Süd, CSAV, CMA CGM and CSCL.
- SEAS 1 and ASAX 1, currently operated by CSAV, CMA CGM and CSCL.
- ASAS 1 and NGX 1, currently operated by Maersk Line and Hamburg Süd.
- ALX and ASE, formerly operated by Hanjin, CCNI, Hapag-Lloyd and Zim lines.
The carriers said the new services will continue to serve the markets covered by existing services, but with improved transit times. They will offer three weekly departures from Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong and Singapore to Santos and Itapoa in Brazil. Service from South America’s east coast to South Africa will be upgraded with two weekly departures and direct coverage from the River Plate to South Africa:
- SEAS 1 will be operated with 11 vessels with capacity of 8,000 20-foot-equivalent units. The rotation will be as follows: Busan, South Korea; Shanghai; Ningbo; Yantian, China; Hong Kong; Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia; Singapore; Sepetiba, Brazil; Santos; Itapoa; Itajai, Brazil; Paranaguá, Brazil; Santos; Sepetiba; Coega, South Africa; Singapore; Hong Kong; and back to Busan.
- SEAS 2 will be operated with 12 8,000-TEU ships. The rotation will be as follows: Shanghai; Ningbo; Hong Kong; Chiwan, China; Singapore; Port Klang, Malaysia; Santos; Paranaguá; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Montevideo, Uruguay; Rio Grande, Brazil; Itapoa; Santos; Durban, South Africa; Port Klang; Singapore; Hong Kong; and Shanghai.
- SEAS 3 will be operated with 10 8,000-TEU ships. The rotation will be as follows: Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Chiwan, Singapore, Santos, Itapoa, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
