Shreyas Shipping and Logistics has announced plans to launch two coastal container services linking India’s major ports on the east and west coasts.
The new services, scheduled to begin Aug. 15, will cover the ports of Mundra, Jawaharlal Nehru (Nhava Sheva), Hazira, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Cochin.
“The current north-south corridor handles around 3 percent containerized cargo by sea mode and with the proposed east-west corridor, Shreyas targets to achieve 5 percent containerized cargo shift to the sea mode,” the Mumbai-based company said in a statement.
The carrier, which recently started a feeder service connecting Kandla, Mundra and Chennai, currently operates a fleet of eight container vessels.
