CONTAINER industry prospects are on the up at the mega port complex of Le Havre as trade grows between India and the European Union.
"India's foreign trade policy is gradually moving towards Haropa ports as a distribution hub for outlets in north west Europe," said the chairman of the Council of EU Chambers of Commerce in India, Avinash Batra.
Capt Batra said the Haropa ports were strategically located at the entrance to the English Channel, the major gateway for sea trade with Europe.
"Industrial sectors and their logistics services are looking to the efficient and cost-effective solutions provided by the ports of the Seine corridor. Use of Haropa ports by Indians will develop," he said.
"The signing of the Indo-European Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in the near future will significantly help to increase trade between the two continents." He said.
