The naming ceremony for Evergreen Group’s first L-type container ship, the Ever Living, was held at China Shipbuilding Corporation’s Kaohsiung shipyard in Taiwan yesterday.
S.S. Lin, first vice group chairman of Evergreen Group, officiated at the ceremony. Dr. Jih-Chu Lee, chairperson of Taiwan Financial Holdings and Bank of Taiwan performed the official rope-cutting for the 8,508-TEU container ship.
“The 10 L-type vessels are the biggest and most advanced among our owned fleet,” Lin said in a speech at the event. “Over the next two years, their deliveries will substantially enhance the competitiveness of our operating fleet in the global shipping market.”
The Ever Living is 334.8 meters long and 45.8 meters wide, with a draft of 14.2 meters. It has 948 reefer plugs.
The ship, which is owned by Evergreen Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd, is scheduled to join Evergreen Line’s Far East - Europe route after its delivery on Aug. 30.
