American Worldwide Agencies will represent a new Austral Asia Line (AAL) service to the West Coast that will cater to the needs of the breakbulk, heavy-lift, dry bulk and project cargo shippers.
Under the multi-year contract that began Oct. 1, AWA will serve as sales agent for AAL’s direct port calls to and from Long Beach and Los Angeles; Vancouver and Everett, Wash.; Vancouver and Prince Rupert, B.C.; Pusan, Korea; and Shanghai, Tianjin, Nantong and Huangpu, China.
Heavy lift relay services of up to 700 tons are available to Singapore; Laem Chabang, Thailand; and Darwin, Mackay, Brisbane, Newcastle, Port Kembla, Melbourne, Freemantle, Port Hedland and Dampier, Australia; as well as New Zealand base ports. Additional ports are available on inducement.
In its West Coast service, AAL will deploy three new 31,000-DWT ships with lifting capacity of up to 700 metric tons.
A variety of cargo is expected to be carried on the ships, including oil well and gas supplies, forestry products, wind and alternative energy products, heavy machinery, yachts and other craft from 20 to more than 200 feet, agricultural products, and steel products.
