DURING the first half of the year, the port of Fuzhou handled 574,000 TEU, up 22 per cent year on year.
According to Xinhua, the two container terminals, Qingzhou Container Terminal and Fuzhou International Container Terminal, handled 513,000 TEU, up 20 per cent and accounting for 90 per cent of the port's total box volume.
Fuzhou plans to advance projects in the Jiangyin and Luoyuanwan port areas as a priority in its current 11th Five Year Plan, which runs from 2006 to 2010. The construction the number three berth at the Fuzhou International Container Terminal is expected to be finished by September when the quay length will be extended to 983 metres.
