AirBridge Cargo will begin Boeing 747F services from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport to Tokyo’s Narita Airport on September 7th, expanding its presence to and from the Japanese market.
AirBridge launched services to Nagoya in early-2006 as part of a long-term relationship with Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA). It now operates three flights a week to Nagoya.
The launch of services to and from Tokyo follows successful negotiations between the Russian and Japanese aviation authorities.
AirBridge will initially operate one flight a week on the Moscow-Tokyo-Krasnoyarsk route, but the new aviation agreement also allows for further expansion of AirBridge operations to and from Narita between 2008 and 2010.
As part of the development of its business partnership with NCA, AirBridge will also provide its clients with additional cargo capacity on board NCA’s existing twice-weekly flights from Tokyo to Frankfurt via the AirBridge hub in Krasnoyarsk in the Russian Far East.
Narita is one of the world’s largest cargo airports, ranked third in terms of freight throughput. AirBridge Cargo and NCA began co-operating in October 2005 when NCA was appointed AirBridge’s general sales agent in Japan.
