AUTHORITIES of Jiangning District in Nanjing plan to develop a 97 square kilometre integrated "air city" for air logistics near Nanjing Lukou Airport, Xinhua reported.
The air city will become a logistics platform, an air transport service centre and an aviation maintenance and manufacturing base with an inventory of aircraft parts, the report said.
The air city will develop logistics and aviation services to make it a regional hub in the initial stage, and a leading and world-famous integrated air city in a middle and long term, the report said.
Lukou Airport is oriented to be a "major hub airport and a air cargo and express mail distribution centre in China". There are 146 air-related service providers operating in the airport and China Postal Airlines is setting up a new hub there.
