CMA CGM is launching new line providing regular container shipping service between Dakar and Ziguinchor.
At least once weekly, a 3,500-tonne vessel, the Anamcara 3, will be transporting containers, trailers, trucks and various goods between Dakar and Ziguinchor in Senegal.
Transit time will be less than 24 hours compared to the two- to three-day trip time required for ground transportation. This new service will help open up the Casamance region.
“We have a strong presence in the country with five lines sailing regularly into and out of Dakar. We are very pleased that this new service will contribute to the economic development of the Casamance region and to all of Senegal,” said Rodolphe Saadé, general manager of CMA CGM.
CMA CGM handles one quarter of all container traffic imported into Dakar and one third of all exports.
