Singapore, Malaysia open skies by December 2008

11/27/2007 10:51:16 AM

Singapore and Malaysia have agreed to fully liberalise the Singapore-Kuala Lumpur air route starting December 2008.

Low-cost carriers would be able to operate an unlimited number of flights between the two destinations, which are now served by state carriers Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airline System. Initially, the carriers will operate a total of four daily flights starting next February.

The statement did not say which low-cost carriers will fly the route but it's widely expected it will be Singapore-based Tiger Airways and Malaysia's Air Asia.
