Zoom Airlines Limited, a leading low-fare trans- Atlantic airline, announced it will begin flights from San Diego International Airport to London’s Gatwick Airport, United Kingdom, in time for the Summer 2008 travel season.
“We welcome Zoom Airlines’ decision to start San Diego – London flights. We expect the flights will be popular on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Thella F. Bowens, President/CEO of the Airport Authority. “The London flight will give San Diego’s tourism industry access to thousands of British travelers, who tend to stay longer and spend more.” Hugh and John Boyle, the owners of Zoom Airlines Limited, said they were delighted to announce the new route, which enhances Zoom’s position as a leading low-fare airline across the Atlantic.
Zoom Airlines will introduce twice-weekly service between San Diego and London operating on Mondays and Fridays, utilizing 266-seat Boeing 767-300 wide-body aircraft.
Zoom Airlines has operated full-service, low-cost flights from the UK to Canada for the last three years and was recently granted permission to operate from London Gatwick as an official UK carrier to the United States. Zoom also introduced direct flights from London Gatwick to Bermuda and New York (JFK) this summer.
