Air Transat, Canada's leading holiday travel airline, has taken delivery of an additional Airbus A310-300 aircraft, bringing the number of wide-body jets in its fleet to 17. Together with Transat Holidays and its European partners, the airline will be offering this summer a total of 63 direct city-pair routes between Canada and Europe – more than any other airline – and flying travellers to 28 different destinations in 11 countries.
The aircraft, Air Transat’s 13th Airbus A310, will make its maiden flight this weekend, from Montreal to a South destination. Also, new flights to sun destinations will be added from Regina and Winnipeg this winter season.
In summer 2008, Transat Holidays and Air Transat will add Basel-Mulhouse as a destination. Located on the France-Swiss border, Bâle-Mulhouse offers travellers direct access to Switzerland and Alsace Region, in France. Switzerland thus joins the 10 other European countries served by Air Transat: Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands.
Several new connections will also be inaugurated this summer: Montreal–Dublin, Toronto–Nice, Vancouver–Paris and Calgary–Paris.
