Ireland's air traffic controllers on Monday called off a 24-hour strike planned for later this week at the country's main airports over a dispute about working conditions.
The strike, originally scheduled for Thursday, was cancelled to allow Ireland's Labour Court to mediate between the trade union IMPACT and the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).
The planned strike would have affected around 800 to 900 flights at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports and flights over Irish air space, which comprise most over-flights between Europe and North America.
Since January there have been disruptions at the three airports due to a lack of sufficient air controllers.
