Airbus received 395 aircraft orders and delivered 123 planes in the first quarter of 2008, putting it ahead of US rival Boeing which had 288 orders and delivered 155 planes.
In March alone, Airbus had orders for 54 aircraft, including deals with China Southern Airlines, Finnair and Aer Lingus.
Airbus received orders for 302 single-aisle short and medium- haul planes, 115 wide-body jets and three A380 superjumbos. It also reported cancellations for 25 aircraft, which brought the total order book down from 420 to 395 aircraft.
