Icelandic carrier Eimskip is reducing the round voyage time on its Reykjavik/North America service by ceasing double calls at the Port of Halifax in Canada.
"The change will lead to an increase in productivity and speed up the transport," Eimskip said in a statement.
The America-route string will now have a round voyage of 24 days instead of 28 days, changing the sailing frequency from fixed-day fortnightly to every 12 days. The revised port rotation is Reykjav, Argentia, Newfoundland; Everett, Mass.; Richmond, Va.; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Argentia; and back to Reykjav.
Royal Arctic Line takes space on the service, which deploys two multipurpose ships with an average container capacity of 678 TEUs.
