Hanjin, APL to start Vietnam/Taiwan/Singapore feeder

4/25/2008 9:53:10 AM

Hanjin Shipping and APL will next month start a feeder service connecting Vietnam, Taiwan and Singapore.

The Ho Chi Minh Express (HMX) service will use two vessels of 700 TEUs, one from each line, on a rotation of Singapore, Ho Chi Minh (Cat Lai), Kaohsiung, Ho Chi Minh (VICT), and back to Singapore.

Korean company Hanjin said the start of a dedicated feeder service will improve its transshipment service from Vietnam to the United States and Europe, especially during the peak seasons. It said the current market situation is blighted with frequent delays due to limited vessel capacity to meet the growing cargo demand between Vietnam and the U.S. and Europe.
