Yang Ming today named two containerships, with capacities of 8,200 TEUs and 4,250 TEUs, at the Kaohsiung shipyard of CSBC Corp., Taiwan.
The larger vessel, YM Uberty, is the first of three sister ships being built for the Taiwanese carrier by CSBC, and will join Yang Ming's Asia Europe Loop 3 (AE3) started at the end of last year. The service is part of the CKYH Alliance, which aside from Yang Ming includes COSCO Container Lines, "K" Line and Hanjin Shipping.
The YM Elixir is the second in a series of five 4,250-TEU ships coming from CSBC. It wasn't disclosed in which service the vessel will be deployed.
