Northwest Airlines is to raise fuel surcharges for its cargo service because of increasingly higher jet-fuel costs.
On June 1, Northwest Cargo will raise its international fuel surcharge to US$1.20 per kilogram from $1.10, excluding traffic originating in Japan.
Westbound transpacific shipments from the US to Shanghai, Guangzhou, and points beyond will now be subject to a 40 cent-a-kilogram fuel surcharge.
The domestic fuel surcharge will be raised to 44 cents a pound from 42 cents a pound, and the security surcharge will be raised to six cents a pound from 4.5 cents a pound.
