Lisbon airport runs out of fuel

6/14/2008 9:21:29 AM

Lisbon's main airport, Portela, has run out of fuel because of a strike by truck drivers, causing flight delays.

Airlines were flying to other airports, such as Porto, to fill up their planes with fuel.

Portuguese and Spanish truck drivers went on strike on Monday in protest at high fuel prices.

Several petrol stations in Lisbon ran out of petrol on Wednesday and there were long queues at others as drivers tried to fill up their cars.
