Maersk Line in Israel is adding a new 1,800-TEU feeder vessel to serve the Port Said-Ashdod route.
The additional capacity is needed to address a shortage of box space due to recent changes in the east-west sailing schedules of several rival shipping lines, reports Port2Port, Israel's Trade Portal.
The new feeder ship will replace the 1,200-TEU Sirius that is serving the Port Said-Ashdod route.
Maersk Israel said the new feeder ship will increase capacity to Ashdod by 50 per cent on average, according to the report.
