The flow of trains through the fire-damaged undersea Channel Tunnel linking Britain to continental Europe will improve this week when part of the tunnel reopens, operator Eurotunnel said.
The fire 10 days ago damaged one of the 50-km tunnel's two main shafts, and Eurostar train services linking London to Brussels and Paris have been severely disrupted since then, as have shuttle links carrying cars and trucks.
A Eurotunnel spokesman said the improvement would bring Eurostar traffic to 80 percent of its pre-fire level, while shuttle services would run at 50 percent of capacity.
