12 airlines interested in bmi

9/8/2009 10:26:03 AM

More than 12 airlines including UK carriers British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have voiced interest in purchasing a stake in UK-based bmi from Germany’s Lufthansa.

Lufthansa owns 80 per cent of bmi, with the other 20 per cent owned by Scandinavia’s SAS.

Lufthansa hasn’t said it will sell its stake, but also hasn’t rebuffed expressions of interest.

Bmi controls around 11 per cent of the slots at London Heathrow, second only to British Airways.
