AirBridgeCargo Airlines, Russia's largest international cargo carrier, added a fifth Boeing 747-400 Freighter to its fleet.
The scheduled cargo subsidiary of Volga-Dnepr Group had ordered five new 747-8 aircraft, the first of which was to be delivered this year. However, Boeing is having trouble getting the newly designed aircraft out the door. The manufacturer now forecasts delivery of the first next generation freighter in February 2011.
ABC took delivery of the additional 747-400 in the first week of April, supporting its strategy of fleet and network expansion and bringing the airline's total aircraft fleet to eight freighters, including two 747-200 and one 747-300.
ABC says the move will enable it to meet continued demand on key routes of its network and manage the delay in the delivery of its first new 747-8.
