DHL Global Forwarding said the weekly service, to be operated through its in-house carrier Danmar Lines, will help cut transit times on the route by almost three days.
“The launch of the new service is part of DHL's on-going plans to expand its own-operated, weekly guaranteed, LCL services globally. It would boost trading activities between Cochin and the rest of the world, particularly benefiting small and medium enterprises,” the company said in a statement.
DHL Global Forwarding operates in India in a joint venture with Mumbai-based Lemuir Group, with offices at all major locations in the country.
The local unit, called DHL Lemuir Logistics, earlier launched a similar weekly LCL service from the Port of Nhava Sheva (Jawaharlal Nehru), India's largest container gateway, to the Middle East.
