Lufthansa Cargo plans to serve Manaus, Brazil, starting Jan. 21, 2011, pending regulatory approval.
With two MD-11 flights per week, from Frankfurt to Manaus, on Mondays and Fridays, the airline will expand its route network in South America.
Services to the city in the Amazon Basin will include stopovers in Dakar and Viracopos, São Paulo. The return flights from Manaus on Tuesdays and Saturdays will stop in Quito and Bogotá, with a technical stop in Curacao.
Lufthansa Cargo currently operates 10 freighter flights per week between Europe and South America, and Lufthansa offers 31 passenger flights. The new service will be the only direct freighter connection between Europe and Manaus.
