On 21/03/2011, Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal Co., Ltd (TCIT), the joint venture between Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) with MOL (Japan), Hanjin (Korea) and Wanhai (Taiwan) celebrated the maiden call of M/v Hanjin Germany 001 W/E operating the NES 5 service (Asia North Europe Service 5). This is the biggest vessel with 122,900-DWT tonnage, 349m LOA and 10,000-teu capacity ever calling at Tan Cang – Cai Mep Deepwater Terminals. The vessel shall call at 12 ports including Gwangyan – Busan – Shanghai – Cai Mep – Singapore – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Le Harve – Algeciras and Kaohsiung and will connect major ports in Asia with main ports in Europe, reducing transport time from 23 to 19 days.
By receiving Hanjin Germany, Tan Cang - Cai Mep Terminals have once again proved its ability to handle and dispatch mother vessels, well deemed as the first complete and most modern deep-water terminals in Vietnam. So far, Tan Cang – Cai Mep Terminals, operated by SNP’s two subsidiaries being Tan Cang - Cai Mep Container Terminal Joint Stock Company (TCCT) and Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal Co., Ltd (TCIT), are receiving 8 ship calls per week, directly transporting containers from Vietnam to Europe, Eastern and Western USA.
