Hyundai Merchant Marine said it is joining a CKYH Alliance Asia-U.S. East Coast service as a slot buyer, while also participating in a Grand Alliance-Zim all-water transpacific service.
Hyundai is joining CKYH's AWE-5 service, which the Korean line will call HZX.
Hyundai took slots on the previous rotation and will continue on the new one, which will go via the Suez Canal instead of the Panama Canal and includes new calls in Hong Kong, Cai Mep, Boston and Singapore, and drops calls in Shanghai, Busan and Savannah.
Hyundai will also join a Grand Alliance service on the same trade, albeit a transpacific all-water service. The service, which Hyundai dubs the New Savannah Express (NSE), as of May 19 will have a rotation of Savannah, Charleston, Kingston, Panama Canal, Busan, Shanghai, Xiamen, Da Chan Bay, Hong Kong, Yantian, Panama Canal, Kingston and Savannah.
