A multicarrier service between the Mediterranean and the East Coast of South America will add a call at the Brazilian port of Pecem in August, according to research from ComPair Data.

The Med-ECSA 1 service will also drop a call at Rio de Janeiro on the return leg to Europe when the rotation is revised with the Aug. 20 sailing. The service will still call Rio de Janeiro on the westbound leg.

The revised rotation will be Valencia, Tarragona, Livorno, Genoa, Vado Ligure, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Itajai, Paranagua, Santos, Pecem, Tangiers and Valencia.

The service operates with seven ships (four from Hamburg Süd, and one each from CMA CGM, CSAV and Zim) with an average capacity of 4,240 TEUs. Alianca, Libra-Montemar, Maruba and Niver Lines charter capacity on the service.

According to ComPair Data, only one other service (Maersk Line’s Samba) connects Pecem directly with Europe.
