Thai Airways to retire 50 aircraft from 2011-2017

Thai Airways International's board has approved a plan to retire 50 aircraft between 2011-2017, reported Dow Jones Newswires.

Six Boeing 747-400s and four Airbus A340-500s will be retired during 2012-2013, and six A340-600s between 2015 and 2017.

Thirteen Airbus A300-600s will be retired between 2011 to 2015, nine Boeing 737-400s during 2014 to 2015, five Boeing 777-300ERs during 2015, two Boeing 777-200s and three Airbus A330-300s in 2017. Two ATR-72s will be retired at unspecified dates.

Last month, Thai Airways' board approved the purchase of 37 new aircraft between now and 2017.
