INTTRA, a global provider of e-commerce solutions for the sea freight shipping industry, says its four-year alliance with the Xiamen-based China Ocean Shipping Agency, also known as Penavico Xiamen, has helped boost the efficiency of China and Korea's containerised trade.
The pronouncement comes as the alliance is said to have helped boost INTTRA's growth in the region by more than 350 per cent in 2006.
"This significant increase in growth demonstrates the value of e-commerce in practice for shippers who are seeking to streamline and standardize their ocean shipment processes," said Michael Nielsen, INTTRA's senior vice president for global commercial sales.
The alliance, which is INTTRA's first with a shipping agency in China, enables both sides to leverage electronic processes for bookings and tracking of containers. What's more both companies are said to be working towards developing a common platform including booking of containers, custom declarations and bills of lading for shippers and freight forwarders based in Xiamen and Fujian provinces, an INTTRA statement said.
