MSC raising westbound transatlantic rates

The liner carrier Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it plans to increase westbound transatlantic rates from Northern Europe from Oct. 1. The increases are:    $300 per 20-foot container and $350 per 40-foot container to Boston, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Norfolk.    $200 per 20-foot container and $250 per 40-foot container to Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Port Everglades, New Orleans, Houston, Long Beach, Oakland, and Seattle.   According to ComPair Data's BlueWater Reporting service, MSC has a 23.3 percent share of allocated capacity from Northern Europe to North America, the largest of any container line.   American Shipper
