Africa posts strong freight growth

10/30/2012 10:12:49 AM

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says African airlines transporting freight 'in the region' saw a 10.2 per cent increase in demand in August.

"Africa contributes three per cent of the global economy, but it is growing the fastest. Some 28 of the 52 countries there have five per cent average economic annual growth and countries like Ghana, Ethiopia, Liberia, Mozambique, Niger and Uganda could potentially grow up to 10 per cent," IATA said.
