Canada, Saudi Arabia Expand Air Transport Agreement

12/29/2012 10:11:17 AM

Canada and Saudi Arabia have amended their existing bilateral air transportation agreement.

In addition to a fully open framework for code-sharing, the expanded agreement includes dedicated cargo rights intended to support trade links between the nations. Negotiations took place during the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Air Services Negotiation Conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this month.

Ed Fast, Canadian minister of international trade and minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway. said the agreement “will support Canada’s international trade objectives with Saudi Arabia, a priority country under the Global Commerce Strategy.” The agreement also should strengthen ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council region as a whole, he noted.
