The UK's British Airways plans to leverage Kenya's position to grow market share in East and Central Africa and South Sudan.
Regional commercial manager George Mawadri said the region's potential for passenger and cargo traffic is positive.
"With the discovery of oil in Kenya and Uganda, gas in Tanzania and Mozambique and the rich oil fields of South Sudan, business opportunities in the region are great," he said.
"BA had daily passenger flights from Nairobi and added an eighth one from May 12, plus it has three weekly flights from Entebbe (Uganda) and a similar number to Zambia," he said.
He added that the airline has suspended its three weekly flights to Dar-es-alam (Tanzania) but is now working on a new strategy.
