3/29/2007 10:21:04 AM

Evergreen and Cosco Container Lines (COSCON) are to split the current ESA service that links Asia, South Africa and the East Coast of South America, in order to create two new upgraded services.

The new services will be: ESA – between the Far East and South America, and FAX – between the Far East and South Africa.

The ESA service will now provide faster transit times between major ports in the Far East and destinations in South America, while the new FAX service will provide direct calls to the major ports of Central China and Southern China.

The revised ESA schedule will now deploy nine 2,800 TEU vessels, six provided by Evergreen and three by COSCON.

Revised ESA port rotation: Shanghai > Ningbo > Yantian > Hong Kong > Singapore > Tanjung Pelepas > Santos > Montevideo > Buenos Aires – Santos > Singapore > Hong Kong > Shanghai.

The new FAX service will deploy eight 3,400 TEU vessels, five to be operated by Evergreen and three by COSCON.

New FAX service port rotation: Shanghai > Kaohsiung > Hong Kong > Yantian > Singapore > Tanjung Pelepas > Durban > Cape Town > Singapore > Hong Kong > Kaohsiung > Shanghai.

The first sailing on the revised ESA service will be from Shanghai on May 15th, while the first FAX sailing will be from Shanghai on May 18th.
