Russian Railways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Slovakia’s Ministry of Transport, Post & Telecommunications, confirming the intention to boost rail transport in both Russia and Slovakia.
According to the MoU, both sides plan to increase co-operation in the rail sector and in mixed transportation, to increase freight and passenger traffic, and also to undertake measures to increase the competitiveness of rail transport in Russia and Slovakiah.
The two sides also agreed to study ways in which to improve the integration of the rail systems of Russia and Slovakia, build logistics centres in Europe and also extend broad gauge 1,520 mm track from Košice to Bratislava in Slovakia.
