Port workers in the Greek port of Piraeus went on a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, fearful of losing jobs following the 35-40 year leasing of the port to Hong Kong-listed Cosco Pacific.
The port workers are also considering another 24-hour strike today, but a local trader said neither strike would affect bunkering operations, Dow Jones reported.
"We are striking against the privatisation of [the ports of] Piraeus and Thessaloniki," said a spokeswoman for the Dock Worker's Union and Foreman's and Supervisor's Union.
